‘Make and Bake’ week and World Food Day

As part of our Design Technology food week,  each class was given the challenge of designing and making a dish from a country in the chosen continent.  Reception was given Europe and due to our story focus being ‘Room on the Broom’ we decided to create cheese wands using French cheese.  During the week, we tasted various cheeses and experimented on our recipe.  Some of the cheeses were very strange and reminded us of “smelly stinky feet”.                                                                                                                                                                                                    After created our cheese wands, we had a go a making French biscuits. Our magic from our wands didn’t work very well, as our biscuits came out of the oven very floppy, hehe.

On Friday 21st October, we also celebrated World Food day.  On this day, the children were able to come in school dressed in  clothing that reflected their cultures and beliefs . During the day, we prepared for our food sale in the hall, where all the classes joined together to sell what they had created.  Food was shared  from different countries and we tried them all.
